Stage & Track Management

We will be transitioning throughout the festival between live music tributes, dj sets, dance performances, poets, and emcee talk time. We are looking to you to manage the orientation of the stage mics as needed for each segment. We will ensure artists are behind the stage at the appropriate time. The DJ will handle cueing songs for the Hip Hop Segment and Alvin Ailey Tribute when appropriate and the MD, Christian Swan will cue show tracks for the soul segment.

Stage Setup

The Main stage will arrive at 6am. The smaller health and wellness stage is set to arrive at 7am. The health and wellness stage only requires 20 minutes for setup. The SL250 Main Stage will require 2 hours. Given this, a configuration of the setup schedule and speaker configuration that is not dependent on the stage setup is recommended in order to avoid a significant delay in the schedule for the day.

Here is a site map for the park to see where both stages will be placed.

Health & Wellness Activation Stage

We will only need in this area:

  • 1 Handheld Mic

  • 1 Lavalier Mic

  • 2 Speakers

The park district will provide a generator to provide power for this area

Main Stage

We will need in this area:

  • IEMs for all 4 house band musicians

  • Sufficient floor monitors throughout the stage for performers

  • 12 Wireless Mics (9 needed simultaneously for the gospel segment, with two being with the emcees at all times, 1 being with the DJ booth

We will have rehearsal on Tuesday 8/26 and Tuesday 9/2 at 6pm at Citypoint Community Church 4338 S Prairie Ave Chicago. This will be the best way to get an accurate sense of the scope of sound, nature of the singers, etc and begin to prepare for the festival performance.

Transferring Audio Stems

All audio stems from the festival performances should be delivered to Jessica Lá Rel Anderson via Google Drive HERE (No WeTransfer) by Monday, September 8th.

Signaling For More In Their Monitors

During sound check and performances, should artists have any issues hearing themself, they will use the following signal to cue to the sound team that they need more in your monitor:

Tap your right ear with two fingers (index and middle finger) 3 times.
